A Beautiful Day for an Afro

This time last week I went out with my cousin Felicia (SimplyFeli). We had a nice day in London shopping and vlogging – ending the day with a great mid-week church service. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel if you’d like to see the vlog when I post it!

I have been out of love with my hair for a while but that day I was loving it! I had straightened it to help me get used to managing my length and Feli styled it for me. I felt like a million bucks! She even let me swipe her bowler hat. I’d never really been into them before then. I love them now!

I’ve never had any qualms publicly admitting my afro is not my first choice. I believe it’s important to be open about certain issues. A lot of the images we see today has misled many women into forgetting that we are all human. We are used to seeing ourselves, regardless of race, after beautification thus sometimes forgetting that these are not our “true faces”.

Ok, I’ve digressed into a rant.

Don’t get me wrong.

I absolutely love afro hair, and mine more specifically, but I do have some self image issues lurking (don’t we all?)… That is a deep topic perhaps for another time. Don’t worry, I am perfectly confident in my appearance and abilities but I am also very self-aware, sometimes to my own detriment.

Gosh I’m a bit formal today aren’t I?

I hope you like the look, and maybe one day soon God willing we can talk more about self-image. If you’d like that leave me a comment and let me know please. Sometimes I think I’m talking to myself here! But I do that in real life anyway…

Jokes aside, talk to you soon! I just wanted to share the pictures Feli took.
